The Alaska Missions Trip: The First Day

Day 1: The morning was full of conversation and motion, we had plans for the day, plans to fulfill throughout the week and energy to complete them. Bob, Jan, and James, (Steve periodically), were set on installing the washer and dryer at Checkpoint for the local youth to have the ability to clean cloths, since some families do not have running appliances. While that was occurring, Steve was teaching Ethan and Conner how to mud a wall, along with sanding the dry wall. The Larrew boys were also set on the project of building the GaGa Ball Pit, and were joined by Steve to get it finished. There were multiple trips in between the completion, as the men could build but not count since we did not have enough parts to fully put the GaGa pit together fully. However, by the time Checkpoint had been going for an hour or two, we completed enough sides to have the pit usable. While the pit was being built, Jan Jill, James, Lori, Bob, and Becky were inside ministering to the local youth. Playing board games, or cribbage, and connecting in general was a great experience. Around 11:30, Conner and Ethan took a walk along the beach and had beautiful views of the sea. Thus, a day ended and a new day of communion and work was just around the corner...

  " No man can have a peaceful life who thinks too much about lengthening it." Seneca It is finished. We made it back with hardly any struggles, there was a little bit of turbulence on the flight from Nome to Anchorage, but we made it with energy to spare.  Before we left, however, we had the opportunity to drop by the Nome museum and see their exhibit of the native people and their history. This, along with the history of the gold rush, made for a fun walk around in the interactive history exhibit. The Alaska Mission Trip: The Send Off

" The Lord stores up sound wisdom for the upright; he is a shield to those who walk in integrity, guarding the paths of justice and watching over the way of his saints."      -Proverbs 2:7-8 As we prepare for the adventure to come, the Grace congregation during service commissioned the team in prayer for our journey to Alaska. We as Christians are to 1: Come, 2: Grow, 3: Serve, and 4: Go, and this Alaska trip is fulfilling both 3 and 4 as we reach out to the families in Nome.       The Mission Team is as follows: Jan Baas, Julia Baas, Steve Brunet, Lori Brunet, Robert McMurdo, Rebecca McMurdo, Ethan Larrew, Conner Larrew, and Jill Stolte.   Prayer for:  Smooth Flights On-time Departures and Landings All necessary gear being packed and ready Good moods in TSA and coming out of TSA Hearts to serve and minds to teach
